In 2016, Roeliff Jansen opened its second office in the up-and-coming Hudson Valley, with a speciality in Dutchess and Columbia counties. With its proximity to New York City, this region – thought of as the area between Yonkers and Albany – has become a popular escape from the hectic city life.
While the Hudson Valley traditionally been agricultural, in recent years, today it has become an arts, culture and culinary destination. From Olana, the home of the Hudson River School artist Frederick Edwin Church, to the Omi International Arts Center, there is a wealth of unique, cultural experiences. The City of Hudson will also be home to the Marina Abramovic Institute, the legacy of the celebrated performance artist.
The area is also home to the Culinary Institute of America, one the of the most prestigious culinary schools in the world. Many students chose to stay in the area after graduating, but there has also been an influx of chefs leaving New York City to create their own restaurants. Zak Pelaccio, formerly of the Fatty Crab, opened Fish & Game in Hudson and recently won the Northeast’s Chef of the Year in the annual James Beard Foundation awards. Nick and Sarah Suarez both worked in such high-end restaurants as Gramercy Tavern and The Modern, but fell in love with Germantown, where they opened Gaskins.
Whether you are looking for an investment opportunity, to relocate or for a second home, Roeliff Jansen will help find the perfect home for you.
